I&#8217;ll leave you with this, as this week emerges out of the shadows:<\/p>\n<p><b>Walter Brueggemann, 11.03.1933 <\/b>\u00a0an American Protestant Old Testament scholar and theologian. \u00a0He is known in modern progressive Christianity and argues that the Church must provide a counter-narrative to the dominant culture or forces of our time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Generosity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On our own, we conclude:<br \/>\nthere is not enough to go around<\/p>\n<p>we are going to run short<br \/>\nof money<br \/>\nof love<br \/>\nof grades<br \/>\nof publications<br \/>\nof members<br \/>\nof years<br \/>\nof life<\/p>\n<p>we should seize the day<br \/>\nseize our goods<br \/>\nseize our neighbor&#8217;s goods<br \/>\nbecause there is not enough to go around<\/p>\n<p>and in the midst of our perceived deficit<br \/>\nyou come<br \/>\nyou come giving bread in the wilderness<br \/>\nyou come giving children at the 11th hour<br \/>\nyou come giving homes to exiles<br \/>\nyou come giving futures to the shut down<br \/>\nyou come giving easter joy to the dead<br \/>\nyou come \u2013 fleshed in Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>and we watch while<br \/>\nthe blind receive their sight<br \/>\nthe lame walk<br \/>\nthe lepers are cleansed<br \/>\nthe deaf hear<br \/>\nthe dead are raised<br \/>\nthe poor dance and sing<\/p>\n<p>we watch<br \/>\nand we take food we did not grow and<br \/>\nlife we did not invent and<br \/>\nfuture that is gift and gift and gift and<br \/>\nfamilies and neighbours who sustain us<br \/>\nwhen we did not deserve it.<\/p>\n<p>It dawns on us \u2013 late rather than soon-<br \/>\nthat you \u201cgive food in due season<br \/>\nyou open your hand<br \/>\nand satisfy the desire of every living thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By your giving, break our cycles of imagined scarcity<br \/>\noverride our presumed deficits<br \/>\nquiet our anxieties of lack<br \/>\ntransform our perceptual field to see<br \/>\nthe abundance\u2026\u2026\u2026mercy upon mercy<br \/>\nblessing upon blessing.<\/p>\n<p>Sink your generosity deep into our lives<br \/>\nthat your muchness may expose our false lack<br \/>\nthat endlessly receiving we may endlessly give<br \/>\nso that the world may be made &#8220;Easter&#8221; new,<br \/>\nwithout greedy lack, but only wonder,<br \/>\nwithout coercive need but only love,<br \/>\nwithout destructive greed but only praise<br \/>\nwithout aggression and invasiveness\u2026.<br \/>\nall things &#8220;Easter&#8221; new\u2026..<br \/>\nall around us, toward us and<br \/>\nby us, all things Easter new.<\/p>\n<p>Finish your creation, in wonder, love and praise.
